OUGD406 - Leeds Library Book Cover

Leeds Library Book Cover Final Design

For the studio brief 02 I took my design from study task 03 and developed it further. I started by changing the background colour into a Neon green to represent the bright future for discovery of graphic design as well as representing the colour of the earth also linking to a sustainable contemporary culture.

I then changed the design all together by moving around the typography. I kept the globe inside the O however I added a box around the world/words to draw attention to the main title of the book as well as keeping the graphic design down the side of the box of the left hand side enabling the reader to see the classification of the book first.

I discounted the "/" as I felt it looked out of place and unprofessional due to feedback, however I added a hint of neon green in both the globe and the authors names making them both stand out also linking back to the colour of the earth and the link to a sustainable graphic design culture.
I created a wrap around cover and incorporated both a blurb and the publisher. I made the globe inside the O slightly bigger to emphasise the stamp that graphic design has on society. I wanted my design to be simplistic and structured like the original however slightly updated and futuristic.
