OUGD504 - Studio Brief 01 - Folding Styles

Folding Styles

After looking into the design process I then researched into folding styles and different types of leaflets I could create. I found a few diagrams online and decided to recreate these with sheets of paper.

It was slightly difficult to figure out what information was to go on each page without having a actual tangible sheet of paper to figure it out with. After trying out various folds I decided to stick with a simple Tri fold as I felt it was the most effective in being as simple as possible to communicate the information and the design process is all tied in together with visual communication, and making thing easy to understand and comprehend. Therefore, I felt that this style of fold was effective in doing this efficiently.

OUGD504 - Design Process - Studio Brief 01

OUGD504 - Studio Brief 01

Today we were briefed on Studio Brief 01 "My Design Process".

Study Task 01

We were asked to go off individually and research the design process. I started by going to the library and looking for some graphic design books on the design process and I found various diagrams and structures however I felt like they all varied. I therefore decided to look at more than 1 and create an all rounded diagram to symbolise the design process. I sketched this out in my sketch book.

After sketching out a quick diagram I then decided to annotate each individual step

After looking at my annotations I decided to make a diagram based more specifically from a graphic designers point of view. I therefore sketched this out.

After lunch we were set the assignment in groups to collectively gather all our information collected earlier into one big spider diagram.

We were then asked to create a diagram of our design process and present it to the class. We went for a simple hand rendered diagram as it was the only choice of materials we were given and it was the simplest form of communicating the information we presenting it.

We then hung it up on the wall and presented it to the class.
